Stockman was honored by the Emerald City Rotary at the
club's most recent meeting.

Chip Stockman, a member of Emerald City Rotary Club, was presented the Community Service Award for “Distinguished and Dedicated Service to Scouting” in a ceremony at the club’s weekly meeting.

The Community Service Award is Rotary’s highest award for service to youth through the Boy Scouts of America. The presentation is made by the local club to honor members who perform outstanding service to youth as volunteer Scouting leaders.

The award was presented by Emerald City Rotary president Fran Wiley, who cited Stockman for years of distinguished leadership in the delivery of the Scouting program. Stockman serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 911 Main Street United Methodist Church, Long Cane District and on Blue Ridge Council Executive Committee.

He was recently honored at the Council Awards Dinner as the 2007 Philmont Chair, responsible for taking a Boy Scout contingency to the national camp in New Mexico for 10 days of wilderness hiking and camping.

Stockman is president of Stockman Oil Co. in Greenwood, is a Sunday School teacher for senior highs at Main Street United Methodist Church, and has been a Scoutmaster for 15 years, with 40 Scouts in his troop having earned Eagle rank.
